Unclear on the concept
Today I received an email from Earth Justice celebrating the fact that the U.S. Senate has just declared May 11 Endangered Species Day. But, as with the Sierra Club's recent endorsement of Republican incumbent Lincoln Chafee, I think they may have missed the point, and their celebration may be unwarranted.
Through sources I cannot disclose, I have been able to obtain a picture of the lunch menu for that day in the private Senate Dining Room:

My source insists that, although it seems to meet all relevant criteria for inclusion, Rove Tartare is unlikely to be an alternate selection.

I wrote to Sierra Club Executive Director Carl Pope to complain about the Chaffee endorsement. He responded with a long email telling me about Chaffee's environmental record. According to Kos, many of his facts were not correct. When I pointed this out, Carl responded by claiming that he had nothing to do with the endorsement. I came away terribly unimpressed.
