Did you know that for a couple of decades after it ended, the conflagration that started in 1914 and ended in 1918 was called the "Great War"? It was only when another, even more deadly and encompassing war came along that it was called World War I.
For the seven decades after it ended, we have referred to the economic meltdown that lasted from 1929 through the late 1930s as the "Great Depression." How long before we start calling it Great Depression I?
