OK, I saw Al Franken in Santa Rosa tonight at Luther Burbank. And now I think I'm funny. It will wear off by tomorrow though.
Al had a couple of interesting things to say, and some funny things. The interesting thing to me was he suggested that we good little Democrats with some money (our tickets were $65 each) should consider not giving to the campaigns of Boxer and Feinstein since they are pretty much guaranteed to win their "safe" seats. Instead, he suggests we send money to Ohio Democrats and other states with close races. It makes some sense to me. Giving to California Dems who are virtually certain to win with or without the limited money I can spare to give isn't going to do much to help us win back Congress.
What you think about that? And I'm asking everyone here.
Also, I was amazed at the crowd - I expected VW Campers and a lot of Jettas and Hybrids and Priusses. Prii? Anyway - walking back to our 11 year old car after the show, it was Beemer, Beemer, Benz, Range Rover, Honda Hybrid (brand new no plates), Volvo, Audi, Benz. I'm going to write about this experience more on my little blog, but I came to realize that there are probably a lot of Democrats with money that actually DO benefit from the Bush tax cuts.
Also, people where a big bunch of assholes getting out of the parking lot. I guess not all of us are putting others before ourselves and making the world a better place starting with ourselves. That was an eye opener for me, and I think it's leaving me feeling a little disillusioned.
