Thank you.

I feel strongly about this. So much so, that I'm carrying a snippet on my own blog from the original story you cited. I think the information is important, but sadly, will be overlooked by millions here in the States because no mainstream media outlet is likely to even mention it.

When wars are waged, the people's historian does well to ask, QUI BONO?

220 Marines, not 2000, died in the Beirut barracks bombing.

And Bono is the lead singer for U-2.

Sorry. *241* US service members total (of which 220 were US Marines) died in the Beirut bombing, as your Raw Story editor points out.

Thank you for such an important post. Let's hope the American people don't fall for it again and let this all happen. Just try to imagine what the "patriots" of America would authorize if they found out that an aircraft carrier battle group was downed in the gulf by Iran. There are something like 10,000 sailors on the main carrier and who knows how many on the supporting ships in the group.

I also followed your link in the story to the must-read piece by Mark Gaffney. Truly frightening stuff... and a very possible scenario.

I also noticed today that Iran is trying to get word out about their successful recent tests of their new missiles as well. It's starting to get referred to in other blogs, but not really drawing this horrific scenario.

A nuclear strike on Iran, millions dead, more millions dying, and of all the horrible repercussions of such an act, the only thing you're worried about is that republicans might somehow gain from it???? WTF OVER?!?!

Anyone this wrapped up in partisan party politics needs to get out in the sun more. I realize there's a huge empathy deficit in both prowar parties, but this is ridiculous.
