Shrill arrows

Krugman's latest column exposes the utter lack of follow-through in Katrina relief now that the cameras have moved on. And man, is he shrill:

Two weeks after Hurricane Katrina, Bush made an elaborately staged appearance in New Orleans, where he promised big things.
...
But Bush seems to have forgotten about his promise. More than three months after Katrina, a major contruction effort isn't even in the planning stage, let alone under way.
...
Funny, isn't it? Back during the 2000 campaign, Bush promised to avoid "nation building." And so he has. He failed to rebuild Iraq because he waited too long to get started. And now he's doing the same thing at home.

Ooh, that's going to leave a mark!

Well, not so much, since Americans just don't seem to be paying much attention. NOLA is going to wind up a French Quarter museum in the middle of a Thunderdome wasteland. And nobody much will care.
