Josh Marshall give some of the details on the strange case of the minor Sopranos character who was invloved in a nasty robbery/homicide.
Lots of interesting questions about verite', the thin line between crime and TV shows about crime, etc. But what struck me about the story was this, which I know is totally OT: seven bullets fired, seven holes in their intended targets. I am not a gun person, but that sure sounds like amazing shooting to me, especially by the mortally wounded cop.
Lillo Brancato, who played Matt Bevilacqua on The Sopranos, was booked this morning on suspicion of murder in the death of off-duty New York City police officer Daniel Enchautegui, 28.
Early this morning, Enchautegui, who had been on the force for three years, went to investigate an apparent robbery of a neighbor's home. When Brancato and accomplice Steven Armento, 48, emergedfrom the home, Enchautegui identified himself as a police officer and ordered the two men to stop.
Armento fired once, mortally wounding Enchautegui.
But before collapsing, the wounded officer fired six shots, hitting Brancato twice in the chest and Armento in the abdomen, chest, right leg and groin.
