What if they thew threw a war and nobody came?

SAN QUENTIN, California (AP) -- The planned execution of a man convicted of raping and murdering a 17-year-old girl was delayed until Tuesday night after two anesthesiologists refused to participate because of ethical concerns.

With the execution scheduled for 12:01 a.m. Tuesday, defense lawyers requested a stay from the federal judge who last week ordered San Quentin State Prison to have an anesthesiologist on hand to minimize Michael Angelo Morales' pain as he was put to death by lethal injection. A second anesthesiologist was retained as a backup.

Although U.S. District Judge Jeremy Fogel denied the motion, both anesthesiologists withdrew, citing ethical concerns raised by his ruling.

Resistance. So simple. yet so rare.

Thank you, doctors. Been a long time since I woke up to news that made me proud.

(Like the subheadline says -- typos.)

I'm back from Disneyland. And I think I have the world's problems all sorted out - We put a fence around the whole world, hire a LOT of gardeners, and turn the whole world into Disneyearth.

A whole week with nothing to worry about except missing the window for my Pirates of the Carribean Fast Pass has charged up my soul, not to mention my Amazon.com Visa card. Maybe I'll buy Crashing The Gate with my rewards certificate.

Anyway - I get upset with the Pro-lifers who are also for Bush's "war" and capital punishment. I have a hard time sorting out my own feelings - which are apparently yours as well - Against the "war," against capital punishment, but pro choice. How do you do it?

I used to be in favor of capital punishment way back in high school when I loved Reagan and thought Jimmy Carter was an incompetent wimp. As soon as Reagan took office, the hostages were released. I also wore a lot of sweater vests back then. I now have a different understanding of the hostage release. And somehow in collge, Buddhism rubbed off on me and I changed my views on capital punishment starting with the idea that all killing is wrong. So how come I'm still pro choice?

And while I respect this act of resistance, the reality is that this guy is still going to die. This brief stay is just going to traumatize him further. That's cruel, and a bit unusual, don't you think?

California postpones execution indefinitely

By Carolyn Abate Tue Feb 21, 10:48 PM ET

SAN QUENTIN, California (Reuters) - California officials postponed indefinitely the execution of convicted killer Michael Morales on Tuesday after notifying a federal court they could not comply with a court order that medical professionals assist in carrying out his death sentence.

--Maybe I stand corrected again.
