Shine on you crazy diamond

This is kind of sad - I had just assumed he was already dead. That's too bad - I think he could have contributed to the post Waters Floyd.

This is sad too...

Rudy Giuliani

Do you have any control over the ads that get listed here? Or is that ironic like my lawnmower?

The ads are supposedly context sensitive. So, for example, if I write a post about mesothelioma, we would get some very high $ value ads. The system isn't all that smart, so if I say something nasty about Rudy, I still get ads for Rudy. Such is adsense.

Ironic Lawnmower -- now that's a band I'd pay to see.

Bloor -- I never really listened much to the Barrett-era Floyd, and don't know much about him. to be honest. Were the drugs cause or effect of his pathology?

His drug use was pretty legendary, and he certainly did enough drugs to make them the primary cause, although it's impossible to say whether that was the case, whether they hastened something along that was inevitable in any event, or whether they didn't have anything to do with anything.

I remember in high school that Dark Side was pretty much regarded as an essential component of the vinyl collection if you had a chance of being considered appropriately socialized. The more sophisticated and snobbish among us--you know, the really kewl kidz--were also clued in on Atom Heart Mother and Meddle. Then one day, my good friend George--George was not quite like the rest of us--popped Piper at the Gates of Dawn into his cassette deck. Disconcertingly brilliant, but light years away from Dark Side, to say the least.
