Times and Reporter Reach Agreement on Her Departure

As Coroner I must aver, I thoroughly examined her. And she's not only merely dead, she's really most sincerely dead:

The New York Times and Judith Miller, a veteran reporter for the paper, reached an agreement today that ends her 28-year career at the newspaper and caps more than two weeks of negotiations.
...

In a memo sent The Times staff at 3:30 p.m. today, Bill Keller, the executive editor, wrote, "In her 28 years at The Times, Judy participated in some great prize winning journalism."

In a statement, Arthur Sulzberger Jr., publisher of The Times, said: "We are grateful to Judy for her significant personal sacrifice to defend an important journalistic principle," adding, "I respect her decision to retire from The Times and wish her well."

Ms. Miller could not be reached for comment.

I'd like to think that the last line there was a little parting gift from her "tribe" in the newsroom. In any event, between this announcement and yesterday's lead editorial in which they ripped King George a new one, it appears as though there might be an effort at rehabilitation underway at the Gray Lady's house.

Either that, or Chimpy's poll numbers have just persuaded Pinch & Co. to jump ship like the rest of the rats.

From my 11/6 post:

Don't be too hasty - It just says she will "return to her desk."

Maybe it's just to pack up a few things and then be escorted out by Security.

I am still rooting for the Times. I think they will make a comeback and play a big part in the ongoing Pre-War Intelligence investigation. It's like getting their butts kicked by the Post on the Miller story got them fired up to return to greatness.

I'm telling you - the Times is in ascension. They will return to greatness. And by the way - the crossword department is still the best.

Oh, like you should be surprised. You seem to have forgotten that you go to the blogosphere with the co-blogger you have, not the one you would want.
